Where did you hide the remote?

By Joey Provost and Cyr-Cathcart Interior Design

That’s a question you might hear more than once in our new Faubourg 1792 real estate project. That’s because, in partnership with the interior design firm Cyr Cathcart, we have included an impressive number of storage spaces and ideas so residents can make the most of their living area.

Let’s start with the living room. The television is mounted on the wall on a sliding panel that hides a bookshelf-type storage area with adjustable shelves to keep all your video, audio and other devices neatly out of sight of guests. The room also features a small storage unit that doubles as a bench. How convenient when you’re entertaining a crowd!

On to the kitchen now, where you’ll find a built-in storage space tucked away between the counter and the stove hidden from view by a sliding panel, making the kitchen look tidy at all times. It’s perfect for spices, oils and other condiments. We all know that Epicureans need plenty of work space to comfortably cook up their favourite dishes. That’s why we’ve hidden a counter extension that pulls out to become a 24-inch butcher’s block.

As for the bedrooms, we’ve added drawers underneath each bed for extra storage. The office can also be used as a bedroom, since it features a Murphy bed that can be folded away into the wall when not in use. Plus, a portion of the second office wall is covered with cork for use as a bulletin board.

In the laundry room, we’ve left a space between the wall and the appliances for easy storage of the ironing board. There’s also a free area just big enough for the laundry basket.

As you make your way toward the garage, you’ll come across another sliding panel. This one conceals storage space with adjustable shelving for the hallway. If you lift the stairs leading to the garage, you’ll also see extra storage room in the empty space beneath the hallway floor.

The hallway features many other storage ideas. For instance, the coat closet is equipped with a system of pull-out rods.

Last but not least, here’s another detail that makes all the difference. The cabinets in every room reach right up to the ceiling in order to provide maximum storage.

So, good luck finding the remote if you can’t remember where you put it!
